Blinky, affectionately known to some as “One-eyed Joe,” was a familiar sight in downtown Lakeland, almost like a community pet. He enjoyed gentle head pats and treats from locals, earning a reputation as a harmless, integral part of Lakeland life. He was as much a symbol of the area as the beloved swans are today. Children often visited him at Lake Mirror, feeding him scraps, with marshmallows and popcorn being his reported favorites.
